They come in navy or charcoal and look and feel just like a normal pair of trousers; but Marks & Spencer’s new eco-trousers are actually made from 14 recycled mineral bottles that have been spun into polyester. M&S is pushing ahead with an ambitious eco-initiative aimed at steering the brand into greener territory. Reducing carbon emissions, using sustainable energy sources and creating more ethical products are high on the agenda for the British High Street retailer. If the £19.50 men’s trousers turn out to be a success, the recycled material will be used to make other items in the range, as well as extended to womanswear."
